The Lost City of Z: The True Story and Mystery of Percy Fawcett

Percival Fawcett was an Englishman born in 1867. He was a member of the Royal Geographical Society and a decorated military officer. Fawcett served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Artillery during World War 1.

Fawcett led many successful expeditions in South America and was rewarded the highest honors of the Royal Geographical Society for his accomplishments. His discoveries in South America convinced him that an undiscovered but advanced civilization once existed in the Amazon. This interest and his subsequent research led him to a document in a library of Rio de Janeiro. The manuscript was dated to 1743 and purported to have found such an advanced city. Fawcett made it his life mission to find the lost city that named Z.

After serving in World War One and leading several failed attempts to discover the lost city, Colonel Fawcett eventually set out in 1925 on his last quest for the mysterious civilization. In his last communication, Fawcett stated his whereabouts and intentions to travel into an unexplored region.

Despite many expeditions in search of Fawcett, no hard evidence of what happened to the Colonel was ever found.
